OH MY IRMA
My solo show, written and performed by me, directed by Alisa Palmer.
To date, OH MY IRMA has been performed in Edmonton (at the Fringe), Toronto (produced by Theatre Passe Muraille) and in NYC (United Solo Theatre Festival).
An international tour is currently being planned.
After a year of development in the Tarragon Playwrights’ Unit, I continue to develop this play with the support of the Toronto Arts Council Emerging Playwrights Grant.
The Public Servant
Theatre Columbus, Collective Creation
As an artist-in-residence at Theatre Columbus, I am working with Jennifer Brewin, Sarah McVie and Amy Rutherford, to research and then create a play about the lives and work of bureaucrats through improvisation and clown work.
Tarragon Theatre Playwrights Unit 2011
Over the course of 2011 I began developing a full-length play, Everyday Neurotics, as a part of the Tarragon's Unit. The unit culminated with a staged reading, directed by Richard Rose, on November 15, 2011 at 8pm.
Torontoist gave me some love.

Courageous, produced by New Stages Theatre Company, Peterborough
Written by Michael Healy | Directed by Randy Read
October 20-29, 2011 at The Market Hall
This October I will returned to (my second hometown) Peterborough, ON, to play Tammy in New Stages production of Courageous.
"What does it mean to be courageous? This hilarious, award-winning comedy follows what happens when a person of conviction takes a stand for a cherished belief, even though it jeopardizes everything they know and love. From sexuality and faith to immigration and love, Courageous bravely tackles some of the hottest-button issues in Canadian society with grace, wit, and lots of laughs."

Some OH MY IRMA Press:
"Haley McGee is a fearless, raw young talent."
-Lynn Slotkin of CBC Radio
"An adorable, oddball anti-hero, Mission Bird is such a wonderfully well-formed character, it would be a shame if her twisted adventures ended here."
-Jordan Bimm, NOW Magazine, Critic’s Pick, NNNN
"Impish and engaging … McGee is a savvy actor. From the moment the lights come up, she has us eating out of the palm of Mission Birds grubby little hand."
-Martin Morrow, Globe and Mail
"Haley McGee is a fresh young talent w/ terrific presence and range. Go see her show @ Passe Muraille Backspace!"
-Glenn Sumi of NOW magazine
"McGee’s funny, affecting and disturbing play is a unique and artfully constructed piece of theatre. She is an inspired writer with a firm grasp of language and imagery. McGee is a highly skilled actor. And her storytelling is so powerful you will feel it in your bones."
-Lauren Gillett, Theatromania
FLASHQUIZ, The School PROJECT
FLASHQUIZ is a writing & performance collective I founded with Steph Berntson, Julia Lederer and Jess Grant. After our run at Bloor CI in October 2010, The School PROJECT is moving onto its next stage of development—going into schools to talk and write with students, staff and teachers to then be used in an experimental theatre piece about the Canadian school system.
